Overview:
The Senior Extrusion Technician will support both production and R&D activities, specializing in the extrusion of disposable medical device components. This includes developing, documenting, and executing manufacturing processes for single lumen, multi lumen, and co extruded tubing, as well as braiding and shaft lamination (reflow).
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up, operate, and troubleshoot extrusion equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
* Develop and manufacture single lumen, multi lumen, and co extruded polymer tubing
* Perform extrusion over braided cores
* Operate braiding and reflow (shaft lamination) equipment as required
* Produce, inspect, package, and label products to meet or exceed quality specifications
* Perform preventive maintenance and basic machine repairs
* Accurately complete production documentation using Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
* Operate manufacturing and measurement equipment safely and efficiently; escalate issues when standards cannot be met
* Assist with process, product, and tooling characterization and validation
* Provide daily support for materials, suppliers, equipment, and processes for both new and sustaining products
* Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment
* Follow cleanroom gowning procedures and maintain a clean, organized workstation
* High School diploma/GED or equivalent required
* 4-6+ years of hands-on experience in polymer extrusion or a manufacturing technician role
* Experience developing and documenting manufacturing processes for disposable extruded components (medical device experience preferred but not required)
* Proven experience working closely with engineers and cross functional teams
* Hands on experience with braiding and shaft lamination (reflow) strongly preferred
* Working knowledge of math and precision measurement equipment (e.g., laser scanners, toolmaker microscopes)
* Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools
* Detail oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to follow procedures and work effectively in regulated manufacturing environments
* Medical device industry experience is a plus, but candidates from other industries will be considered
