Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical coursework, machining certification, or related college training preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Strong understanding of machining principles, manufacturing processes, and CNC programming concepts.
Experience Requirements1-3 years of hands-on experience in CNC machining, CNC programming, Swiss machining, or precision manufacturing. Experience creating, editing, and optimizing CNC machine programs using G-Code and M-Code. Experience setting up tooling, machine parameters, and production processes for prototype and production parts. Previous experience working in a cGMP, ISO-regulated, medical device, or precision manufacturing environment preferred.
Preferred QualificationsProficiency with Solid Works or similar CAD software. Experience with Citizen CNC Swiss Screw Machines preferred. Strong knowledge of GD&T, tooling selection, machining methods, and process optimization. Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and improve cycle times, tool life, and product quality. Experience training machine operators and setup personnel on new processes. Strong project management, communication, and continuous improvement skills.
Physical CapabilitiesAbility to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform detailed machining tasks throughout the shift. Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Ability to perform close visual inspections and read technical documentation. Comfortable working in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with moderate industrial noise levels.
Job DutiesDevelop, validate, and optimize CNC programs, tooling layouts, and machining processes for prototype and production components. Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to support prototype development and successful production launches. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and part designs to determine machining methods, tooling requirements, and production sequences. Improve manufacturing efficiency by reducing cycle times, minimizing variability, enhancing tool life, and reducing secondary operations.
Create setup documentation, machining instructions, and process control documentation to support production. Train machinists and setup technicians on new or improved machining processes and best practices. Troubleshoot machining issues, support daily production needs, and implement corrective actions when required. Conduct process audits and continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, productivity, and operational performance while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
