Job Description & How to Apply Below
Engineering Technician
Engineering Technician role focuses on supporting a high-volume production line by building complete electro-mechanical machines from subassemblies, performing calibration and testing, and resolving technical issues to keep products moving efficiently through manufacturing. You work closely with both production associates and engineers, serving as a critical link between the shop floor and the engineering team, while using your experience to troubleshoot complex issues with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Support the main assembly and production line by building and assembling complete electro-mechanical machines and systems from subassemblies.
- Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with limited oversight to ensure consistent, high-quality builds.
- Perform calibration, integration, burn-in, and functional testing of machines and subsystems to verify performance and reliability.
- Conduct engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data and support research and development activities.
- Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, written instructions, and verbal descriptions to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions.
- Perform operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment to identify root causes of failures or performance issues.
- Troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems at the assembly and, when needed, component level, and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Act as a bridge between production associates and engineering by communicating issues, clarifying requirements, and providing feedback from the production floor.
- Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions and improve build processes or test procedures.
- Assist in the design, construction, test, and checkout of specialized test equipment and fixtures used in production and engineering labs.
- Use manufacturing, test, development, and diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
- Help relieve production bottlenecks by ramping quickly, taking ownership of tasks, and proactively resolving issues that slow down throughput.
- Collaborate with engineering on new product introduction (NPI) activities by providing hands-on assembly, integration, and troubleshooting support.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, follow safety procedures when working with electrical systems and moving mechanical parts, and use appropriate protective measures.
- Document test results, issues found, and corrective actions taken to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Essential Skills
- Strong electro-mechanical assembly experience, including building complete machines or systems from subassemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Proven troubleshooting skills with minimal supervision in a production or engineering lab environment.
- Comfort running calibration, testing, burn-in, and integration activities on electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience assembling and building complete machines or systems in a manufacturing or similar setting.
- Approximately 6+ years of relevant technician or assembly experience preferred, with the ability to ramp quickly.
- Hands-on experience working with test and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
- Ability to work from written and verbal descriptions, layouts, and defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting.
- Capability to perform fault isolation and operational testing on systems and equipment.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Component-level troubleshooting experience, which is helpful but not required.
- Experienced in more technical or new product introduction (NPI) environments, especially with strong hands-on assembly and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience supporting engineering activities such as design, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity…
