Capital Markets Research Associate

The Research Associate will work directly with the Capital Markets Research team to develop and communicate research and guidance to our consultants and clients Specifically, the Research Associate will be responsible for conducting innovative research on a broad array of investment related topics, drafting and proofreading research papers and related publications, finding data sources, using investment software to aid in our analysis and recommendations.

The Research Associate will work closely with other research professionals and investment analysts in carrying out the position’s duties. The Research Associate is expected to progressively increase their level of knowledge regarding capital markets broadly and firm-specific practices.

The position reports to the firm’s Director of Research.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Fully engage in the process of helping the team publish research material. This includes:
    • Finding, collecting, and organizing data from disparate sources, both internal and external, often with limited direction.
    • Collaborating with members of our team and other departments to locate data and other source materials.
    • Analyzing data from a statistical, economic or financial lens.
    • Creating outlines and first drafts, as well as proofreading and making edits to later drafts of research papers.
    • Taking the lead on updating both the data and content of older research papers.
    • Translating complex financial concepts into clear, accessible materials suitable for both technical audiences and the average investor.
    • Turning research papers into Power Points and potentially other forms of media as determined by our Communications team.
  • Keep current on the economy and financial markets to be well versed on trends that could be potential research topics.
  • Present research findings internally with the goal of educating the audience, primarily Consultants and Investment Analysts.
  • Be responsive to and work with Investment Analysts and Consultants on special projects as needed, often in a time sensitive manner.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and data management skills, including the ability to gather, organize, and coordinate data from disparate sources
  • Effective verbal and written communication, with ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Solid understanding of economic and investment theory and practices, as well as financial and statistical concepts.
  • Proficient in digital tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organized work habits, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate across departments, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience writing, publishing, and presenting research.
