Scien Cell Research Laboratories () is a biotechnology company whose mission is the research and development of cell and cell-related products for experimental and therapeutic use. Due to the rapid expending of our business, we currently have a new opening:
Research Scientist (Mammalian Proteins)
Role Description
This position is for a research scientist with expertise in DNA cloning, mammalian protein expression and biochemical / cell biology assay development. We seek an innovative and eager scientist with a strong desire and ability to learn a wide-reaching and highly technical skillset, and potentially apply that skillset towards scientific creativity downstream. The position will be a key role in our R&D group and have critical impact on program progress throughout the drug discovery and development process.
Responsibilities:
- DNA cloning and mammalian protein expression. Design constructs for expression in bacterial, insect, and mammalian cells to produce high quality recombinant proteins and protein complexes.
- Design display libraries and carry out binder identification screens and use library design to produce insights into compound binding and mechanism of action.
- Purify and characterize recombinant proteins to enable high throughput assays, biophysical assays, and structural efforts.
- Development and execution of both biochemical and cell-based assays for functional characterization of proteins
- Prepare internally reviewed technical reports, make oral presentations to scientists and management, and publish/patent externally.
Required
Skills and Experience:
- PhD/MS degree in recombinant protein chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field with 1-5+ years of directly relevant laboratory experience in DNA cloning and protein expression.
- Expertise in protein purification workflows and experience from R&D through pre-clinical development preferred.
- Experience with small-format, engineered protein binders (Darpins, affibodies, VHH, etc.) is of interest.
- Detail-oriented and capable of identifying and solving scientific problems.
- Effective and collaborative cross-functional team member in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
- Additional experience in protein conjugation/purification/analytics is a desirable
