Rug House is a growing, independently owned luxury rug showroom located in Carlsbad, California. We specialize in area rugs across a wide range of styles, materials, constructions, sizes and price points, including handmade, hand-knotted, hand-tufted, machine-made and custom rugs.

Our Carlsbad showroom features one of the most extensive rug collections in San Diego County. Through our nationwide network of manufacturers and suppliers, we also have access to one of the broadest selections of rugs available across the United States.

We are seeking a motivated, creative and highly personable Part-Time Sales & Design Consultant to join our Carlsbad showroom. This is an on-site position with the potential to grow into a full-time role based on performance and the needs of the business.

This is more than a traditional retail sales position. The selected candidate will help clients select the right rugs for their homes, follow up with prospective customers, support showroom operations, participate in social media and live-selling activities and contribute creative ideas that help grow the business.

The position may be especially valuable for an emerging or independent interior designer who wants to build a professional design practice but does not yet have a dedicated office or showroom. With prior approval and coordination, the selected candidate may have the opportunity to meet their own interior design clients in our beautiful Carlsbad showroom, subject to showroom availability and company policies.

This allows the right person to earn hourly compensation and sales commission, gain experience selling luxury home products, build client relationships and develop their independent interior design career in a professional showroom environment.

• Welcome every visitor warmly and provide an exceptional, personalized hospitality experience.
• Listen carefully to each client’s needs and guide them in selecting rugs based on room dimensions, color, style, texture, material, lifestyle and budget.
• Conduct in-showroom and virtual design consultations and confidently present suitable product options.
• Build trust with clients and deliver a consultative, service-focused luxury sales experience without using high-pressure sales tactics.
• Meet established monthly sales goals and actively contribute to overall showroom performance.
• Prepare quotes, process transactions, coordinate special and custom orders, and maintain accurate customer and order information.
• Follow up consistently with showroom visitors, existing clients, online inquiries and prospective customers by phone, email and text.
• Proactively develop new sales opportunities and build long-term relationships with homeowners, interior designers, real estate professionals and other local partners.
• Recommend appropriate sizes, rug pads, complementary rugs and multi-room solutions when they genuinely benefit the client.
• Participate confidently in company social media content, including short videos, product presentations and live-selling sessions on platforms such as Instagram, Whatnot and eBay.
• Respond to digital leads and help transform social media engagement into showroom visits, consultations and sales.
• Contribute creative ideas for marketing, events, displays, partnerships, client outreach and business growth.
• Maintain attractive, organized and professional showroom displays.
