Assistant Chemist
The assistant chemist performs analyses and sample preparation of chemical samples for ultra-trace impurities to support product manufacturing, certificate of analysis generation, product development and research projects. Uses sophisticated analytical instrumentation such as GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES and Ion chromatography. Experience in running analytical instruments is desirable!
The position has an impact on the areas of Chemical Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, Sales & Marketing and Research & Development through the generation of analytical data on samples submitted by these departments. Accurate and timely results provide for efficient decision-making in these departments.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Performs complex routine and basic non-routine analyses in a Cleanroom environment guided by Lead Chemist and/or Lab Supervisor.
- Operates and maintains precision analytical instrumentation and computer systems.
- Works safely, accurate and quick turnaround of analyses.
- Supports Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Sales and Marketing with analytical data. May provide technical support to these departments.
A pre-placement Fit for Duty Evaluation is required for this assignment:
Contractor will be required to work with chemicals. Candidate must be able to work wearing a face mask for extended period of time in a Cleanroom environment. Wearing a respirator will not be required. Candidate will occasionally need to lift/carry 25-50 lbs. Candidate will occasionally be required to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder, push/pull. Other:
Repetitive actions: pipetting liquid in a lab environment. Shake about 3 pounds of liquid for 10 minutes at a time. Will be working with needles. Will be standing a lot of time. Frequent work with computer for data processing.
