Overview
An Electrical Journeyman is responsible for installing, altering, adding and repairing electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials on construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical Installations:
Install wiring systems, outlets, fixtures, and other components. Independently install switchboards, transformer raceways, and lighting control systems. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. - Testing and Inspection:
Conduct tests on electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and performance. - Lead a Small Team:
Manage a small team of apprentices providing guidance and training as needed. - Strong Communication
Skills:
Collaborate with Foreman and other team members to complete projects on time and within budget. - Project, Material & Planning:
Assist Foreman with apprentice daily layouts, tool and material ordering for upcoming phases of work. - Troubleshoot:
Identify and resolve complex electrical issues during the course of construction. - Equipment Operation:
Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, single‑man lifts, etc., to perform scope of work. - Safety:
Maintain a “safety first” approach to all work while remaining in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and standards. Keep work areas clean and organized.
- 5–10 years of experience in the electrical field.
- Valid Certified General Electrician License (plus).
- OSHA 30 Certified (plus).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and diverse environments, including confined spaces and heights.
- Physical requirements:
sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and use hands and arms to operate equipment; lift and move up to 50 lbs. - Good vision, strong sense of balance, and no fear of heights.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, blueprints, pipe bending, and industry NEC code.
- Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Fluent in both the speaking and writing of English.
- Pay Ranges: $28.00 – $40.00 per hour.
- Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA.
- Voluntary Insurance and 401(k) with 4% match.
- Holiday Pay.
Provided in accordance with California law.
