What You Will Do

The International Threat Reduction Group (NEN-3) within the Nuclear Engineering and Nonproliferation Division is seeking a highly organized, reliable, and customer-focused Administrative Professional to provide business and high-level administrative support to our dynamic team. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for the group, working closely with NEN-3 management, the staff operations manager, and NEN leadership.

You'll support a broad range of administrative functions in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and play a key role in ensuring the group's daily operations run smoothly. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who anticipates challenges, handles sensitive matters with discretion, and communicates effectively across all organizational levels. This position requires someone who thrives working independently, balances multiple priorities, and demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and sound judgment.

  • Experience supporting teams in areas such as calendar management, travel coordination (domestic and foreign), procurement, meeting logistics, and timekeeping.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance long‑term projects with urgent requests and shifting priorities.

Education/Experience

Position requires a High School Diploma and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with LANL business systems, including Oracle, Ariba/purchase card procurements, the Foreign Visits Tracking System, badging and clearance systems, SharePoint, and MS Teams.
  • Experience with Concur or a similar business travel system and familiarity with government travel policies.
  • In-depth understanding of Laboratory organizational structures, operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Environment Work Location

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
