Overview
Airswift is searching for a Construction Superintendent to work near Carlsbad, NM on a long‑term assignment. The role coordinates and facilitates the construction of distribution lines, ensuring safety, quality, scope, schedule, and financial objectives are met.
Responsibilities- Manages contractor safety, work progress, and completion.
- Coordinates field activities for electric distribution projects.
- Supports and coordinates project execution during construction processes.
- Ensures project accountability for permanent in‑service dates.
- Performs field inspections, leads crews, and documents findings to ensure compliance with complex material, equipment, or design specifications.
- Undertakes special assignments as directed.
- Recognizes and addresses safety issues on site.
- Inspects and monitors the installation of distribution lines and equipment.
- Supports scheduling and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
- Provides field support for design and construction of electric distribution facilities.
- Coordinates field inspections, job site readiness, and obtaining required permits.
- Reviews and supports post‑construction material reconciliation, as‑built design, and contractor labor accuracy per approved design.
- Has extensive knowledge of applicable OSHA, NEC, NESC, DOT, CFR.
- Ensures work is performed in compliance with safety guidelines, company policies, and procedures.
- Manages, coordinates, plans, and organizes multiple concurrent complex projects and activities under required time constraints.
- Possesses deep knowledge of right‑of‑way terms.
- Reads and interprets complex electrical and construction designs.
- Understands construction methods, techniques, standards, and equipment required for electric distribution systems.
- Handles critical situations with minimal or no direction from supervisors.
- When acting in a leadership capacity, recognizes and defines objectives requiring action by the group.
- Completed a qualified apprenticeship program and holds a journeyman Lineman certification.
- Experience managing and running distribution crews.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports.
- Ability to promote team performance through a positive attitude, self‑motivation, and flexibility.
- Ability to apply risk analysis.
- Applies electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering knowledge to assist with design and field issue resolution in support of current Design Engineering requirements and PE Sealing Process.
- Coordinates field changes, material or equipment delivery/inspections, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
- Interprets a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Works independently, applying knowledge to project plans and designs; coordinates very complex projects, assignments, and tasks associated with the installation of distribution facilities.
- Recognizes and addresses safety issues on site.
This position requires extensive experience in electric distribution construction, strong safety and project management skills, and the ability to work independently in a leadership capacity.
