Short Description

The Site Concrete Foreman assists the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in the day to day operation of the project. The Site Concrete Foreman commonly works alongside assigned crew members to put work in place and occasionally assumes oversight duties when the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent are absent.

Job Description Summary /Objective

The Site Concrete Foreman must be a flexible, detail oriented, team player with the ability to produce quality work and consistently meet deadlines. This is an active/hands-on position.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and assist with the activities of concrete crew engaged in placing curb gutter, stand-up curb, drive pads and flat work including handicap ramps;
  • Coordinate and assist with the placing, finishing and repairing of concrete surfaces using hand and/or power tools normally used within the trade and standard in the industry;
  • Coordinate and assist with sub grade work, light excavation, placing/setting grades and elevations;
  • Assign workers to duties such as layout, level and transit functions, concrete forming, concrete placing, and building cast-in-place stairs;
  • Coordinate and assist in daily construction procedures to ensure that the highest standard of quality is maintained and that schedules are being followed;
  • Assist superintendent in determining the sequence of construction activities and crew composition;
  • Assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation;
  • Assist in loading, unloading, and transporting materials, tools, equipment and supplies;
  • Assist in construction or demolition of various structures;
  • Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds on a regular basis;
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas and perform minor maintenance necessary;
  • Restock supplies and materials as necessary;
  • Inspect work performed to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, uniform-building codes, ADA codes, local ordinances, safety regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Understand the proper use of concrete add mixtures and mix designs;
  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications;
  • Read and understand schedules;
  • Provide unit information for tracking and forecasting labor production;
  • Provide information for fieldwork orders;
  • Order Materials and optimize material usage;
  • Complete and maintain as needed:
    Absence Reports, Termination Notices, Problem Discussion Forms, Injury Reports, Timecards, Daily Reports, and Concrete Pour Logs;
  • Complete and maintain weekly Safety Toolbox Talks as required; and
  • Train and mentor employees as required.
Qualifications
  • Member in good standing with the local Union;
  • Completion of apprenticeship program or equivalent experience;
  • Ability to carry out instructions from Superintendents and other management;
  • Skill to meet the demands of the job;
  • Have a working knowledge of current concrete additives;
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, subcontractors, owner, architect, and inspectors and maintain working relationships for future project opportunities;
  • Ability to understand drawings and how they would look as solid objects;
  • Ability to work out of town and varying hours as required, including: over-time, evenings or weekends;
  • Willingness to attend required conti uing education classes and receive required training; and
  • Willingness to attend safety meetings, monthly breakfast meetings and quarterly employee meetings.

Supervisory Responsibility

Site Concrete Foremen supervise the positions of Cement Mason Foreman, Cement Finisher, Cement Mason Apprentice and Laborer, under the direction of the Superintendent or Assistant superintendent.
