Director Of Allied Health
Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is seeking a Director of Allied Health. Located in Carlsbad, New Mexico, SENMC is a newly independent public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. A proud Hispanic Serving Institution, it awards certificates and associate degrees that serve the needs of its region and prepare students to transfer to programs at other colleges or universities.
SENMC offers Early College and Dual Credit programs in collaboration with local high schools. Southeast New Mexico College enjoys the strong support of its community, and has been awarded several grants, which include $11.7 million from the U.S. Department of Energy and several multimillion-dollar grants from the U.S. Department of Education for student support. The college's diverse employee pool includes 40 full-time faculty, 48 adjunct faculty, and 102 staff members.

Under the administrative direction of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), the Director of Allied Health provides strategic leadership, oversight, and operational management for all Allied Health programs at Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC). These programs include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Surgical Technology, Phlebotomy, Health Information Technology (HIT), and the development of new programs such as Radiography. The Director oversees Allied Health dual credit programs offered at Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School and supports strategic expansion to additional school districts as regional needs evolve.
The Director conducts ongoing community and regional healthcare needs assessments to identify gaps, workforce demands, and opportunities for new Allied Health program development and expansion. The Director leads accreditation activities, faculty and staff workload oversight, course and program scheduling, clinical partnerships, curricular alignment with current evidence-based practices and education outcomes, assessment planning, fiscal management, and continuous improvement efforts that align with SENMC's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide overall leadership and administrative oversight for all Allied Health programs and initiatives.
- Assign and oversee faculty and staff workload distribution to ensure equitable and efficient teaching and administrative responsibilities.
- Lead courses, program, and semester scheduling across Allied Health disciplines, including dual credit offerings at Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School.
- Oversee all Allied Health dual credit programs at Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School, including faculty credentialing, curriculum alignment, and compliance with state dual credit requirements.
- Develop a strategic framework for expanding Allied Health dual credit pathways to additional regional school districts based on community needs assessment and available workforce pipelines.
- Develop, launch, and sustain new Allied Health programs aligned with regional workforce demand, accreditation requirements, and institutional goals.
- Conduct formal community and regional healthcare needs assessments to determine which new Allied Health programs SENMC should pursue to meet local and rural workforce shortages.
- Expand and strengthen existing programs through curriculum updates, new credentials, simulation development, and partnerships with educational and healthcare partners.
- Ensure all Allied Health programs maintain compliance with accreditation, affiliation, state, and national regulatory bodies.
- Oversee program review, learning outcomes assessment, licensure exam alignment, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain and develop policies, procedures, and documentation required for accreditation visits, regulatory reporting, and dual credit program compliance.
- Establish, renew, and expand clinical affiliation agreements with hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, laboratories, and rural healthcare partners.
- Collaborate with Carlsbad High School and Artesia High School administrators, counselors, and instructors to ensure high-quality Allied Health dual credit instruction.
- Represent SENMC at local, regional, and state healthcare councils, advisory boards, school district meetings, and community forums.
- Conduct employer outreach to design responsive educational pathways that address regional workforce shortages.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate full-time and adjunct Allied Health faculty, including dual credit instructors.
- Provide guidance to faculty regarding workload expectations, curriculum development, instructional quality, and compliance with SENMC academic policies.
- Provide professional development opportunities regarding clinical teaching, assessment, regulations, dual credit requirements, and emerging healthcare trends.
