Gifted And Talented (Gt) Teacher (Secondary)

Minimum Qualifications:

1. As established by the State Board of Education. 2. A bachelor's degree. 3. A valid New Mexico teaching license with endorsements as needed.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
5. Pass a background check.

Supervisor:
Director of Special Education

Essential Job Functions:

• Accurately demonstrates knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.
• Appropriately utilizes a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught.
• Communicates with and obtains feedback from students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding.
• Comprehends the principles of student growth, development and learning, and applies them appropriately.
• Effectively utilizes student assessment techniques and procedures.
• Manages the educational setting in a manner that promotes positive student behavior and a safe and healthy environment.
• Recognizes student diversity and creates an atmosphere conducive to the promotion of positive student involvement and self-concept.
• Demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate.
• Works productively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
• Works well with administration to meet professional requirements and responsibilities.

Job Functions:

• Perform other tasks as may be deemed appropriate and necessary by supervisor(s) or the Board.
• Follow all laws of the community, state, and federal governments.
• Follow all policies and regulations of the School District/Board.
• Take precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Serve duties and supervise students as assigned.
• Leave adequate preparations for a substitute.
• Serve on committees as requested.
• Review and/or order supplies and materials for the school and classroom.
• Participate in in-service or other trainings.
• Apply for and keep all teaching credentials current.
