Examples Of Duties
Required:
High School diploma or GED certificate with two (2) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
Equivalency:
Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience. Any combination of education, training, and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department.

Non-Exempt
Level: Seven (7)
Salary: $18.18 - $20.46 per hour DOE
Located in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is a newly independent public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. SENMC offers Early College and Dual Credit programs in collaboration with local high schools.

Provides academic tutoring services to a wide variety of individuals and groups. May work on an on-call, short-duration basis. Creates and implements tutorial programs that guide and assist students with homework, problem solving, report writing, and test preparation.
Tutor students in all Mathematics courses, including the newly developed Co-Requisite courses in individual, group, and workshop formats. May also be embedded in Math courses to assist instructors with just-in time tutoring.
Provide clear, step-by-step guidance on mathematical concepts, problem-solving strategies, and quantitative reasoning.
Conduct tutoring sessions and workshops focused on course support and standardized exam preparation.
Assess student needs and develop individualized tutoring plans and mathematics-specific study strategies, including problem breakdown, formula application, and test-taking techniques.
Refer students to appropriate campus or external resources as needed.
Lead and train entry-level tutors on effective strategies, including approaches for diverse learning styles and students with disabilities.
Maintain and update confidential student records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Research, select, and utilize instructional materials, including textbooks, software, and equipment to support tutoring sessions.
Develop supplemental materials such as handouts and study guides to enhance learning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of tutorial/learning materials and instructional aids.
Knowledge of peer counseling/tutoring processes and methods.
Knowledge of test administration techniques and procedures.
Records maintenance skills. Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.
Organizing and coordinating skills.
Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
