Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with five (5) years of direct, hands‑on field experience in oil and gas operations within the Permian Basin. General industry knowledge, academic experience, or administrative experience without the required direct field experience will not satisfy this requirement.

Equivalency:

Associate’s degree in a related field with seven (7) years of direct, hands‑on field experience in oil and gas operations within the Permian Basin. General industry knowledge, academic experience, or administrative experience without the required direct field experience will not satisfy this requirement. Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department.

Position Summary:

Southeast New Mexico College is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in Oil & Gas. This position requires direct, hands‑on oil and gas field experience in the Permian Basin, so instruction reflects the operating environment, practices, equipment, safety expectations, and workforce needs of the region. The successful candidate will teach courses in Oil & Gas and related fields based on experience.

The faculty member hired in this position is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities to promote student-centered learning and success. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, holding office hours, serving on various committees, and demonstrating a commitment to professional development through participation in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.

Requirements

for the Position:

The faculty member will be assigned to teach on a 12-month contract with a teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester, or the equivalent, consisting of 100- and 200-level courses. The faculty member must apply direct Permian Basin field experience to classroom instruction, laboratory activities, curriculum development, and workforce preparation. Teaching responsibilities include effectively serving a diverse student body, assessing student learning, evaluating instructional methods, developing courses, and maintaining regular office hours in accordance with the Faculty Manual.
