Overview
Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a QA Auditor in Carlsbad, NM. Navarro is a federal contractor delivering quality and safety solutions in the nuclear and environmental fields, with programs nationwide for DOE/NNSA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.
This position supports the Department of Energy Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) in Carlsbad, NM. CBFO's mission includes management and support of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and the National Transuranic Waste Program (NTP). Navarro staff provide services such as audits and assessments, security, program management, environmental compliance, nuclear and industrial safety, TRU waste characterization and certification, TRU waste transportation and packaging, and related support functions.
Responsibilities- Qualify as an NQA-1 Lead Auditor to lead QA assessments on behalf of CBFO.
- Participate as a qualified auditor on QA assessments, including those at generator sites across the United States.
- Prepare and manage assessment plans, checklists, and reports by assessment team members, including logistics for certification assessments at remote sites across large geographic areas.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and participate in or manage large assessment teams, often with many observers.
- Work location:
Carlsbad, NM, with travel to the WIPP site and generator sites for audits.
Requirements
: 15 years of directly related experience as a lead auditor who is certified or can be certified within 60 days of employment under the CBFO lead auditor certification process (ASME NQA-1-1989), or a Bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant lead auditor experience and certification within 90 days, or a Master’s degree with three years of relevant lead auditor experience and certification within 30 days.
A QA Auditor II must have comprehensive knowledge of ASME NQA-1-1989, DOE Order 414.1, and 10 CFR 830.120; must meet the minimum Lead Auditor qualification points for certification per ASME NQA-1-1989 Appendix 2A-3; within 30 days of employment, possess working knowledge of site procedures and program documents (e.g., CBFO QAPD, WIPP-WAP, WIPP-WAC, TRAMPAC).
A QA Auditor III must have extensive experience in leading a team of auditors and technical specialists assessing radioactive mixed waste characterization, packaging, transportation and disposal; possess expert knowledge of relevant nuclear disciplines and QA processes; be able to lead audits within a nuclear facility environment and manage audit plans, checklists, and reports, including coordination of logistics for remote sites and interfacing with regulatory agencies.
