Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are actively seeking a highly experienced Automation Technician who can hit the ground running. This position is not entry‑level and is not for general electricians. We're looking for someone with deep, hands‑on Allen‑Bradley expertise and the ability to work independently in a 7 on / 7 off rotational schedule.

As a Mid‑Level Automation Technician, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing onshore production automation systems. Your primary responsibilities include PLC/HMI programming, instrumentation diagnostics, loop tuning, and system commissioning. You will act as the local subject‑matter expert for control systems and automation troubleshooting.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot and repair Allen‑Bradley PLCs (Control Logix, Compact Logix), RTUs, and HMIs.
  • Calibrate and maintain level, pressure, flow, and vibration instrumentation.
  • Support the integrity of automation systems across well pads, batteries, SWD sites, and compressor stations.
Programming & Commissioning
  • Program and modify logic in Studio 5000 (Ladder, Function Block, Structured Text).
  • Configure and commission new installations using P&IDs, Cause & Effect matrices, and control narratives.
  • Design and maintain Factory Talk View HMI screens and alarming systems.
Data & Systems Management
  • Use SAP or other CMMS tools for work planning, documentation, and maintenance tracking.
  • Adhere to Management‑of‑Change (MOC) procedures and corporate programming standards.
Safety & Compliance
  • Work safely around energized systems and in confined spaces.
  • Follow all OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and corporate safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

Associate degree in Instrumentation, Automation, or related field OR GED with equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years as an Automation Specialist
  • 3+ years in oil & gas operations
Technical Skills
  • Strong proficiency with Allen‑Bradley (Studio 5000, Factory Talk View).
  • Knowledge of analog/discrete I/O, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus communications.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and loop sheets.
Other Requirements
  • Willingness and ability to work a strict 7/7 rotational schedule.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to remote field locations.
  • Capable of operating aerial lifts and working under supplied air when required.
  • Must have clean MVR.
