* Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a
** _Transportation Engineer_
** and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
** Responsibilities*
* The successful candidate will be in charge of technical duties in preparation of hazardous material, hazardous waste, and radioactive material shipments and receipts, while assuming responsibility for the accuracy of results and regulatory compliance. Prepare routine technical reports and presentations as needed. Collect, enter, and report transportation information and shipment data. Perform shipment documentation reviews, log keeping, and file maintenance. Initiate corrective action, under direction of supervisor, for shipment discrepancies.
Crosstrain for related positions to ensure transportation positions can be staffed daily.
** This is a backshift position with the work hours of 3:00pm - 1:00am, Tuesday through Friday.*

+ Bachelor's degree, or
+ Associate's degree with four (4) years of professional experience, or
+ High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of professional experience is required.
+ Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must have some experience in a technical field.
_Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information._
** Preferred Requirements*
* + Previous experience with hazardous and radiological materials.
+ Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier and Hazardous Materials Shipping Regulations.
+ Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Hazardous Waste Management experience.
+ Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Project or Central Characterization Program (CCP) experience.

Non-exempt grade level(s) 28-31. Salary range: $69,444 to $130,969 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate's relevant experience and education.
