Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Central Characterization Program (CCP) Deputy/Compliance Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
ResponsibilitiesThe CCP Deputy/Compliance Manager is responsible for managing, leading and developing the CCP Certification Group, CCP Training Department, CCP Records Department, and CCP Document Control Department, as well as serving as the CCP Manager in the CCP Manager’s absence. In order to accomplish this, a successful candidate will have an advanced knowledge of the WIPP Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP) Attachment C - Waste Analysis Plan (WAP), the WIPP Land Withdrawal Act (LWA), Transuranic Waste Authorized Methods for Payload Control (TRAMPAC), the WIPP Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), the Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) Quality Assurance Program Document (QAPD), the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) and associated Department of Energy (DOE) Orders.
In addition, the CCP Deputy/Compliance Manager will interface, coordinate, and work with regulatory agencies including DOE, New Mexico Environment Department (NMED), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as well as various DOE Contractors around the United States.
- Bachelor's Degree plus nine (9) years of related experience is required, or
- Associate’s degree with thirteen (13) years of related experience, or
- High School Diploma or equivalency with (17) years of related experience is required.
- Management experience of no less than three (3) years.
- Experience/Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is mandatory.
- Ability to obtain Q-Clearance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

- Advanced Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
- Advanced Knowledge of WIPP HWFP Attachment C
- Advanced Knowledge of TRAMPACs
- Advanced Knowledge of WIPP DSA
- Advanced Knowledge of WIPP LWA
- Advanced Knowledge of WIPP WAC

Exempt grade level(s) 36-39. Salary range: $134,030 to $261,111 per year – the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
