Job Overview
Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Electrical Engineer (Power Distribution) opportunities in Carlsbad, NM to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
Work Location:
On‑Site diem available for those who qualify. Number of positions: 2.
The Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is the nation’s only permanent nuclear waste repository for defense‑generated transuranic (TRU) waste generated from Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the country. Waste is permanently isolated over 2,000 feet underground in deep salt beds.
Duties- Perform engineering calculations and analysis within the scope of engineering discipline and provide rigorous written documentation supporting design decisions.
- Effectively interface with various departments including Quality Assurance, Procurement, Project Management, Operations.
- Provide technical field leadership support to solve equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain system configuration documentation including system drawings, design specifications, trending analysis, and system health indicators. Perform system health walk‑downs and produce system health reports.
- Obtain and maintain qualifications, annual training covering concepts, practices, and procedures used to complete the engineering process.
- Perform electrical modification/evaluation of existing systems, routine inspections for adherence to applicable building/construction codes/regulations, engineering design change processes, and configuration design control.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (experience may substitute for education). (Professional Engineers license is an acceptable alternative to a baccalaureate.)
- 9 years of related experience.
- All candidates must be US citizens.
- Experience with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) is preferred.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace is a plus.
- Knowledge of low voltage and lighting in an industrial process is desired.
- One (1) year of nuclear project experience.
- Previous WIPP Project Experience.
