Environmental Specialist – Air Quality (Midstream Operations)
Location:
Carlsbad, NM
Schedule:
Monday – Friday
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist with a strong air quality background to support midstream operations, specifically compressor station environments. This role will serve as a technical advisor to operations teams, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and guiding air permitting and emissions management efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in air quality and environmental compliance for midstream assets, including compressor stations
- Provide technical advisory support to operations teams on federal, state, and local air regulations (e.g., EPA, TCEQ)
- Interpret permitting requirements and ensure ongoing compliance with air permits and applicable regulations
- Assist with air permit applications, amendments, renewals, and reporting obligations
- Evaluate emissions from compressor stations and related midstream facilities
- Support implementation of air compliance programs, monitoring plans, and record‑keeping systems
- Conduct regulatory analysis and gap assessments to ensure alignment with evolving environmental rules
- Partner with operations to develop practical, compliant solutions for environmental challenges
- Support internal audits, inspections, and regulatory agency interactions as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance, with a strong focus on air quality
- Direct experience in midstream oil & gas operations, particularly compressor stations, required
- Strong knowledge of air permitting processes and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Title V, NSPS, NESHAP)
- Ability to function as a technical advisor influencing operational decisions
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Familiarity with Texas regulations (TCEQ) preferred
- Technical expertise in air emissions and regulatory compliance
- Ability to translate complex regulations into actionable guidance
- Strong collaboration with cross‑functional operational teams
- Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset
