** _Industrial Hygiene Professional_
** and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
** Responsibilities*
* The successful candidate will support the WIPP Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program which strives to reduce and control chemical, biological, physical, and environmental hazards in the workplace. This will be an experienced level position with additional responsiblities and potential for advancement. Ensure compliance with all applicable procedures, policies, contractual/operational requirements, safety guidelines, MSHA, OSHA, DOE Orders, and local, state, and federal regulations.
Perform tasks according to detailed instructions and established procedures. Direct data collection and workplace observation in support of IH programs, policies and procedures used to measure and reduce employee exposure. Perform routine calculations according to specific guidelines and formulas. Assist in generating reports, spreadsheets, and charts. Actively participate in safety work groups. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work in above ground and underground (mine) environments.
Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed. Must be ambulatory, wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.). Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck, golf cart, gator, heavy equipment).
Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.). Must be able to complete radiological worker II training. Position will be a shift 4 X 10 IH representative on days. Successful candidate is expected participate in the Emergency Response Organization as Safety/IH resource.
** Minimum Requirements*

+ Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene or a Safety and Health related discipline from an ABET Accredited Program with five (5) years Industrial Hygiene experience
+ Associate's Degree in Industrial Hygiene or a Safety and Health related discipline from an ABET Accredited Program with nine (9) years Industrial Hygiene experience
+ High School Degree or Equivalent with thirteen (13) years Industrial Hygiene experience.
+ Strong interpersonal communication skills
+ Microsoft Office skills
+ Must be 18 years of age
+ Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future
+ Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site (even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
+ Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns-including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries

** Preferred Requirements*
* + Preference given to candidates with Department of Energy nuclear facility experience
+ MSHA/Mining experience is preferred
+ Certified Industrial Hygienist (or equivalent) qualification is desired
