Design Safety Basis Engineer

Urenco USA, located in Eunice, NM, is searching for a Design Safety Basis Engineer to work on-site.

• Perform facility design safety basis activities with a focus on process hazard analyses and chemical dose consequence analyses.
• Provide engineering support for calculations, walkdowns, and configuration management.
• Interface with employees and managers at all levels.
• Conduct chemical dose consequence calculations and use modeling software.
• Develop designs in support of facility operations and future projects.
• Perform independent design reviews, verify assumptions and adequacy of calculations.
• Provide technical support for design, installation, and maintenance of site projects.
• Communicate and collaborate with other organizations to resolve technical issues.
• Apply sound engineering judgment and professional rigor.

• Minimum:
  Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent; 2+ years direct work experience in a nuclear facility.
• Preferred:
  Experience performing chemical dose consequence analyses.
• Master's or PhD in Physics, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License.
• 5+ years related work experience, including 2 years in a nuclear facility.
• 2+ years experience at a Part 70 licensee.
• Design Safety Basis Development, HAZOP, and Documented Safety Analysis experience.

• Location:
  
  Eunice, NM.
• Schedule:
  
  Professional work schedule with minimal night/weekend support; occasional on‑call duty.
• Travel: 10% of the time or less as required.
• Security Clearance:
  Controlled Access Area (CAA) Access and an L or Q level clearance.
• Emergency Response: ERO duty may be required, including 24/7 on‑call during designated team duty week.
• Environment:
  Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr.

• Starting salary: $98,761 - $146,169 per year, dependent on candidate.
