Associate Environmental Specialist

The Associate Environmental Specialist is responsible for supporting the Company's environmental compliance programs with a primary focus on conducting regulatory-required monthly Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) inspections across Permian Compression facilities and supporting leak rechecks to ensure full Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) compliance. This role provides technical expertise and regulatory guidance to operations and management, ensuring alignment with corporate environmental policies, federal and state regulations, and industry best practices.

The position investigates environmental issues, identifies opportunities for compliance improvement, and develops corrective actions to prevent recurrence of environmental incidents.

• Interpret and/or develop company environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods and procedures for implementation and assurance of conformance; advise managers and supervisors of company goals and requirements; provide guidance and technical assistance in establishing programs and procedures, including budget inputs.
• Monitor compliance with policies in assigned areas; direct related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
• Design and review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment or systems; determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment as required.
• Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine causes and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; provide recommendations to appropriate personnel and communicate to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards and related technological and administrative developments; develop or assist with legislative and regulatory impact assessments to ensure appropriate response to government proposals; submit required reports and obtain permits.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; conduct appropriate training sessions.
• Represent the company with trade associations, industry work groups and regulatory agencies; serve as technical resource to Government Affairs in contact with elected officials.
• Maintain a working knowledge of key industry contacts, direct activities and budgets, and disseminate pertinent information.
• Maintain sufficient professional expertise and proficiency in discipline to achieve company expectations and perform technical assignments.

• High School Diploma or GED required with 5 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry (e.g., refining, midstream, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial).
• Bachelor's degree in a HES related field with no relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with no relevant experience.
• Conceptual knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory framework.
• Valid driver's license required.
• OGI and LDAR experience preferred.
