SUMMARY:Receives and pays out money and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsements.
• Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances
• Enters customers’ transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.
• Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds
• Orders daily supply of cash, and counts incoming cash
• Balances currency and coin in cash drawer/vault at end of shift and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen
• Removes deposits from, and counts and balances cash in from automated teller machine and/or night depository
• Accept loan payments
• Prepare and record cash transactions for customer change order requests
• Accept and process large coin deposits
• Redeem and record savings bond redemption transactions
• Receive and record customer item stop-payment requests
• Prepare and record account closing transactions
• Explains, promotes, or sells products or services such as cashiers’ checks, and savings bonds
• Prepare and verify wire documents

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School education or GED
• Ability to work independently
• Attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through
• Basic math skills including simple percentage calculations
• Basic computer skills
• Spanish-speaking preferred, but not required
