Job Description
General Function: Responsible for all aspects of network management including but not limited to backup systems, domain controllers, network switches, file servers, virtual environments, wireless networks, web content filtering, cybersecurity, desktop systems and communications hardware/software.
Education/Training/Experience- Minimum: Five or more years of relevant experience in Information Technology/Information Systems with a minimum of two years as a network administrator
- Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field and at least 5 to 7 years of network management experience. MCSE certification, CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP certification a plus
Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of Active Directory management
- Knowledge and management of virtual environments
- Systems and networking software, hardware, and protocols
- Wireless network configuration and management
- Multiple operating systems:
Windows Server 2008 R2 and above, Windows 10 & 7, Chrome OS, Mac OS X 10.7 and above - Windows patch management solutions such as Quest KACE
- MS SQL Server 2008 and above; ability to identify recurring problems and recommend prevention and resolution plans
- Data security and availability via backup and verification procedures
- Web content filtering solutions
- Google, Microsoft and Adobe suites
- Remote access configuration for users
- Server backup solutions
- Support of networked printers and copiers
- Current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies
- Prioritization of multiple projects and tasks effectively
- Perform functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures.
- Maintain, configure and reliably run computer systems, network servers, and virtual environments.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems, resolving them, prioritizing, and assessing impact.
- Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Network administration including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems, internet access, office systems and applications support.
- Support network, server and desktop hardware, software, and applications.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Standard network and office equipment including computers, phones, copiers, etc. Automobile to travel to district sites and/or meetings.
Physical/Cognitive RequirementsThe work is primarily performed in an office and is fairly sedentary. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation. At times bending, squatting, reaching and the ability to lift, carry, push up to 40 pounds. Frequent trips by automobile to district sites and departments is required.
EnvironmentalConditions
Most work performed in an office setting. Some travel to district and non-district sites.

- Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
- Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
- Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of district equipment and software as needed to complete essential job functions.
- Safeguards District resources by adhering to the District’s Responsible use of Technology Resources Agreement for Staff.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in prevention of muscle strain/injury.
