DEPUTY SHERIFF II - Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team (DVERT) member - $29.65 - $32.72 PER HOUR DOE

The position of Deputy Sheriff II-Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team (DVERT) member is an assignment within the Detective Division made by the Sheriff. The Deputy Sheriff II DVERT member, as assigned, will perform a wide range of duties as assigned concerning domestic violence investigations such as case research, identification, documentation and collection of evidence as well as the preparation of various legal documentation.

Candidates for this position must be able to perform all duties with minimal supervision, work irregular hours, be available for call out, as well as respond to active crime scenes and conduct follow up investigations. Deputy Sheriff II DVERT members review law enforcement reports to determine appropriate criminal charges, act as an information and referral resource for victims and offenders, obtain and maintain photos and medical records.

Deputy Sheriff II DVERT members will have experience in and will receive specialized training on domestic violence related crimes, domestic violence law, identifying and understanding stalking behavior, non-fatal strangulation, and trauma informed interviewing. The Deputy Sheriff II DVERT member collaborates with other law enforcement agencies, victim service agencies, social service agencies, health care professionals, and community groups with a primary focus on victim/survivor safety and offender accountability.

The Deputy Sheriff II DVERT member works in a multi-discipline environment with victim-service providers and others with a primary focus on victim safety and domestic violence offender accountability. Will be required to successfully complete comprehensive domestic violence training, victim advocacy training, trauma informed interviewing and sexual assault training. Will be required to obtain a New Mexico Department of Public Safety General Instructor and Domestic Violence instructor certification.

Will be required to deliver domestic violence training to law enforcement and others as required. This position may qualify for incentive pay.

In addition to this assignment, this position of Deputy Sheriff II-Domestic Violence may also be required to perform a wide range of patrol duties, as assigned, to enforce various laws and ordinances, and to protect the general public’s constitutional rights, as provided for under county, state, tribal and federal laws. Work from rotating shift patrol assignments, to operate a patrol vehicle in a designated area of the county, with full responsibility for proper personal conduct and enhancement of the County’s police image, while carrying out their law enforcement duties, both on and off duty.

Must perform all duties with minimal supervision, may be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings both in and out of the county, and perform other duties as assigned.
