Job Description
The Lease Operator will be responsible for monitoring and optimization of all production process variables, ensuring that all production equipment is operating at peak reliability and efficiency, and acquiring and storing data. They will be working on H pumps within the lease, doing maintenance & trouble shooting for the product equipment. They will be inspecting equipment, collecting production data, fix routine issues and keep everything flowing.
They will be operating, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining oil & gas production equipment in the Permian. Will be watching pressures, temperatures, tank levels, and keeping equipment healthy so production never stops. They will be dealing with the following production equipment:
- Three-phase separators
- Two-phase separators
- Test separators
- Inlet vessels
- Vapor recovery units (VRUs)
- Low-pressure flares
- Compressor stations
- Filter separators
- Glycol dehydration units
- Centrifugal pumps
- H pumps
- Tank batteries
- Control valves
- Back-pressure valves
- Auto chokes
- Check valves
- Wellhead valves
Chelsea is converting some late-life wells to plunger lift, so candidates with plunger experience will stand out.
Work Environment & Logistics- Are you comfortable working independently in the field?
- Have you worked in the Permian Basin before?
- Are you comfortable with daily travel around the Carlsbad area?
- Are you willing to work south of Carlsbad on Chevron assets?
- What CMMS systems have you used? (SAP, Maximo, etc.)
- Have you created work orders?
- Have you prioritized and tracked maintenance requests?
- How closely do you work with maintenance crews and contractors?

- 1-3 years current related experience in oil and gas, or related petrochemical industries/plant.
- Experience with gas lifts, compressor stations, H pumps.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.

- Lease operator or field operations experience.
- Separator experience.
- Tank battery experience.
- Safety-focused mindset.
- Well testing experience.
- Work independently in the field.
- Associate’s degree.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and aptitude for learning new software packages.
- Production Operations Experience & Well Testing.
- Shale & tight production Operations experience.
- Gas lift experience (artificial lift system).
- Plunger lift experience (artificial lift system).
- Compressor experience.
- VRU experience.
- SCADA experience, PI (Production Software System, make sure wells are operating effectively).
- PI experience.
- CMMS/work order systems.
- Permian Basin experience.
