Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room Circulator position at a community hospital in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of OR experience and a New Mexico or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a 6-room OR suite at a 99-bed community hospital in Carlsbad, NM
  • Approximately 250 procedures performed per month
  • Patient population includes adult and pediatric surgical patients across general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, and trauma cases
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Day shift:
    Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 5x8-hour shifts
  • On-call required: minimum one weekday per week (Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–7:00 AM) plus weekend rotation (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
  • 13-week contract
  • Responsibilities include circulating and scrubbing surgical cases, ensuring supplies are prepared, maintaining timeliness of cases, communicating with patient families, updating physician preference cards, and supervising personnel delivering patient care
  • Works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, ORTs, and other surgical team members in accordance with AORN standards and State Nurse Practice Act
  • RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
  • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past two years are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local travelers are not accepted
  • Auto-offers only — no interviews required
Requirements
  • Active NM or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR RN experience required
  • Experience with general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, and trauma cases required
  • Adult and pediatric surgical experience required
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico; candidates must ensure their agency is registered with the state of NM prior to applying
