Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Fire Marshal, the Animal Care Specialist enforces Eddy County Ordinances and New Mexico State Statutes addressing animal control, care and abuse. The employee will be responsible for educating the public on requirements for animal care and compliance with applicable ordinances and state statutes. Investigations of complaints of animal abuse or neglect within Eddy County and appropriate actions—issuing warnings and/or citations to violators, impounding stray or injured animals as the situation dictates—are required.
The role requires considerable public contact explaining County Ordinances and State Laws on Animal Control issues. The employee may be required to work irregular hours under all kinds of weather conditions, attend job‑related training and meetings, and perform all other duties as assigned.
Starting Pay: $21.53 – $23.75 per hour DOE
