Position SummaryThe Retail Business Development Officer is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding consumer, small business, and commercial deposit relationships to support the Bank’s core deposit growth strategy. This position combines retail banking relationship management with treasury management sales to deepen customer relationships, increase deposit balances, and expand adoption of fee-generating deposit products and services. The role requires proactive business development, strong customer service, and effective collaboration with lending, retail, operations, and compliance teams to identify customer needs and deliver appropriate banking solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and execute strategies to grow core deposits across consumer, small business, and commercial customer segments.
- Identify and pursue new deposit relationships through referrals, networking, community involvement, and direct outreach.
- Partner with lending officers to capture deposit relationships associated with loan customers.
- Promote customer retention by proactively identifying relationship risks and opportunities for additional services.
- Promote treasury management products and services, including ACH, remote deposit capture, wire services, positive pay, merchant services, online banking, mobile banking, and other deposit-related solutions.
- Conduct customer needs assessments and recommend appropriate products to support business cash flow, fraud prevention, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate treasury management onboarding with internal departments to ensure a smooth customer experience and proper product implementation.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and reporting processes related to treasury management services to support effective oversight, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor product utilization and follow up with customers to encourage adoption and satisfaction.
- Manage and retain assigned retail and business deposit relationships.
- Conduct periodic account reviews to identify cross-sell opportunities and deepen customer relationships.
- Provide high-level service to business clients and serve as a trusted resource for deposit and treasury management needs.
- Work closely with lending, retail, operations, compliance, and technology teams to support customer needs and ensure appropriate risk management.
- Track deposit growth, new relationships, product usage, fee income, retention, and cross-sell activity.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding business development efforts, pipeline activity, and results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of banking, treasury management, retail banking, sales, or business development experience preferred.
- Prior experience with deposit growth strategies, treasury management products, and relationship-based business development preferred.
- Strong knowledge of retail banking, deposit products, treasury management services, and business banking needs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business, manage relationships, and achieve deposit growth goals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on customer needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining appropriate attention to risk, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Proficiency with banking systems, digital banking platforms, and Microsoft Office products.
