Field Technician – Environmental Services

CEHMMis a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers a wide verity of environmental services to clients throughout southern New Mexico. Our environmental services department specializes in natural resources assessment and environmental permitting at the federal and state levels. A successful candidate will gain aworking knowledge of the plants and wildlife of New Mexico and the ability toconduct field work in an arid climate.
The Field Technician – Environmental Services is a full-time hourly permanent position located in Carlsbad, NM reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor –Environmental Services. The Field Technician – Environmental Services will accomplish a wide variety ofclient needs including but not limited to:
- Assist with natural resource surveys(wildlife, plant, karst, hydrology, etc.)
- Assist with environmental compliance monitoring (trench monitoring, spill monitoring, etc.)
- Collect environmental samples (water, soil,biological) and record basic data
- Maintain accurate and complete field records
- Support data organization and mapping underthe direction of senior staff
- Set up, operate, and maintain instruments and equipment as directed
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools,equipment, and vehicles under supervision
- Assist with fabrication and troubleshooting of equipment and systems
- Transport equipment and supplies using trucksand trailers as necessary
- Mix and apply chemicals according to label instructions under supervision
- Collaborate with team members to support project efficiency
- Adhere to correct procedures and health andsafety policies
- Other duties as assigned
This is an entry level position; we are prepared to train theright candidates. The salary range for this position is $22/hr. to $27/hr additionally,CEHMM offers a very relaxed work environment with flexible schedules,competitive compensation, benefits including 401K, quality insurance options,relocation reimbursement, education reimbursement, and clothing allowance.
Requirements Qualifications Required- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to work long hours in the field with potentially undesirable conditions
- Ability to hike up to 5 miles a day
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with aclean driving record
- A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Ecology, Biology, Geology, orrelated fields
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS
- Experience with plant and wildlife surveys
