Environmental Specialist II - Remediation

Description

As an Environmental Specialist II‑Remediation, you will provide environmental consulting services that include environmental assessment, investigation, remediation field activities, laboratory data review, and report preparation to evaluate and mitigate environmental risk for KLJ client projects.

Specific tasks include observation, monitoring, assessment, documentation, sample collection and classification of contaminated media, oversight of waste disposal, conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and supporting large‑scale construction monitoring projects.

• Understanding federal, state, and local environmental regulatory policies
• Conducting fieldwork and onsite documentation, and drafting reports
• Accurately completing and documenting environmental activities and incorporating pertinent information into reports or permits
• Managing scope of services, project schedules, and budgets
• Leading completion of field assessments, investigations, and remediation activities
• Collecting, evaluating, and interpreting environmental data

• Four‑year degree in geology or an environmental‑related field. Previous experience may be considered in lieu of a four‑year degree
• Previous environmental field work experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate motorized vehicles
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to direct construction crews on location
• Spanish speaking is a positive, but not a requirement
• Willingness to travel on occasions and work flexible hours as needed

• Experience using GPS units and GIS software
• Familiarity with field data and sample collection methods
• Experience in soil, surface, and groundwater sampling and assessments
• Knowledge of Texas Railroad Commission (TRRC), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), New Mexico Oil Conservation Division (NMOCD), and New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) regulations
• 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification

• Work outdoors during all seasons
• Use hand auger when required
• Frequently lift and carry field equipment up to 25 pounds
• Walk on uneven terrain
• Talk and hear clearly to communicate effectively

Salary range: $65,000 – $90,000. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, performance bonus, 401(k), employee stock ownership program, and flexible work arrangements.
