Position Title

Laboratory Tech Instruction, Facilities Maintenance

Location

Doña Ana Community College, Las Cruces, NM

Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty in preparing and delivering laboratory-based instruction.
  • Set up laboratory spaces with necessary tools, materials, and equipment; ensure they are in optimal condition for student use.
  • Perform routine maintenance or minor repairs as needed; keep equipment and laboratory area functional and safe.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; provide students with guidance on proper equipment use and safety protocols during lab sessions.
Qualifications
  • Required

    Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or higher degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Basic computer skills.
  • 1-2 years experience in building construction or maintenance preferred.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with power tools and hand tools commonly used in construction labs, including saws, drills, nailers, and measuring tools.
  • Experience assisting with framing, basic carpentry, concrete work, or other entry‑level construction tasks.
  • Background maintaining, repairing, or calibrating construction equipment and lab materials.
  • Familiarity with construction safety practices including PPE use, OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30 standards, and safe tool handling.
  • Experience organizing materials, managing tool inventories, and setting up lab stations for instructional activities.
  • Prior work supporting instructors, foremen, or supervisors in training environments or industry apprenticeships.
