Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Technician II is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems. This role supports engineers and supervisors in ensuring mechanical assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established standards. The technician executes planned maintenance activities, contributes to reliability improvements, and maintains accurate technical documentation. This position typically reports to a supervisor and may work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Assist mechanical engineers in planning, inspecting, testing, and maintaining mechanical components and equipment, including engines, compressors, instruments, controls, and machinery.
- Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities as scheduled.
- Review job plans and job packs prior to execution to ensure clarity and readiness.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks before beginning work.
- Actively utilize on-the-job safety tools and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
- Request required permits and notify supervision if permits are delayed or unavailable.
- Perform equipment inspections and document findings.
- Record technical data and maintenance history in designated reliability or tracking systems.
- Provide feedback to improve job plans and work execution processes.
- Support preparation of cost estimates and maintenance proposals as needed.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure timely and efficient completion of work.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure proper care of tools and equipment.
- Discipline-appropriate certification(s), technical training, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience performing maintenance on mechanical systems and rotating equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety practices and hazard identification.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, job plans, and equipment documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly describe field conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, including cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced or high-demand environments.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document work accurately and maintain organized records.
- Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) compressor experience
- Gas lift systems experience
- Ariel compressor experience
- Diesel generator maintenance experience
