Industrial Electrician

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of electrical systems and equipment supporting mining, processing, and production operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of underground and surface mining equipment, processing facilities, conveyor systems, pumps, motors, controls, instrumentation, and power distribution systems. The successful candidate will possess strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced mining environment.

Electrical Maintenance & Repair:

• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical equipment and systems in mining and processing facilities.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems, motors, motor control centers (MCCs), switch gear, transformers, and power distribution equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair AC/DC motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults using electrical drawings, schematics, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain and repair lighting systems, electrical panels, control systems, and communication systems.

Instrumentation & Controls:

• Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation devices, sensors, transmitters, and process control equipment.
• Assist with PLC troubleshooting and automated control systems.
• Support calibration and testing of instrumentation equipment.
• Perform basic programming modifications under supervision when required.

Mining & Processing Equipment:

• Maintain electrical systems associated with:
• Conveyors
• Crushers
• Hoists
• Pumps
• Ventilation systems
• Compressors
• Mobile mining equipment
• Processing plant equipment
• Support planned shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital improvement projects.

Safety & Compliance:

• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
• Adhere to MSHA regulations and electrical safety standards.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent industrial electrical experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret:
• Electrical schematics
• Blueprints
• One-line diagrams
• Technical manuals
• Working knowledge of:
• Motor controls
• MCCs
• VFDs
• PLC systems
• Instrumentation
• Industrial power distribution
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

• Journeyman Electrician License.
• Mining, potash, aggregate, cement, manufacturing, chemical processing, or oil & gas experience.
• MSHA training and mining industry experience.
• Experience with:
• Allen-Bradley PLCs
• Siemens PLCs
• SCADA systems
• Industrial automation systems
• Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) experience preferred.

• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to safely work around high-voltage electrical systems.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritize work in a production-driven environment.

• Ability to work in underground and surface mining environments.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions, dust, heat, noise, and confined spaces.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
