Position Description
A Certified Crane Operator safely and effectively operates hydra-lift cranes (Fixed Cab Certification for small crane and Swing Cab Certification for heavy cranes) to move and properly place equipment and materials on the construction site.
Essential Job Functions- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE.
- Responsible for Daily Shift validations.
- Must possess a current and valid Driver License with clean driving record.
- Have appropriate certifications to operate the equipment being used.
- Perform and fill out pre-trip vehicle inspection before leaving the yard, check all fluids/tires/lights/ and all signs as listed on pre-trip.
- Conduct daily crane inspections for unsafe conditions/deficiencies and notify supervisions of conditions.
- Gather appropriate job permits and ensure they are filled out correctly with correct signatures.
- Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres and hazards associated with accessing job site and transportation clearances.
- Perform a job walk to identify all potential hazards around working area (underground and overhead utilities) and take procedural actions to mitigate or eliminate if any found.
- Participate in safe work, behavioral safety audits and near hits processes.
- Perform monthly tool audits on equipment and ensure compliance (vehicle registration/ fire extinguisher).
- Test the job site for immediate respiratory dangers like H2S or oxygen deficient and know how to read a monitor.
- Review lift requirements with site supervision to include working height, boom length, load radius, load weight, crane capacity, extension outriggers/stabilizers and counterweights.
- Properly use mats, blocks or cribbing and outriggers as they affect the supporting surfaces to handle the expected loads of the operation.
- Understand and show competence with using rigging devices.
- Competently pick, carry, swing and place the load smoothly and safely.
- Operate crane safely at all times, especially in the following conditions: operating near electric power lines, using various approved counterweight configurations, handling loads out of the operator’s vision (operating in the blind), using electronic communications techniques such as radios, etc.
- Perform tasks assigned by PLW or Foreman.
- Be actively involved in Behavioral Safety Process.
- Develop knowledge of KSI PPM-SOPs and refer to the SOP Manual prior to each task.
- Follow all KS Industries, LLC safety, and customer policies and procedures.
- Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English
- Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
- Knowledge of Lock Out/ Tag Out process
- Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
- Knowledge of Stop Work Authority (SWA)
- Ability to use capacity load charts.
- Understand limitations of load charts and footnotes, the difference between structural and limited capacity by stability.
- Knowledge on what is included in a load chart capacity, the range diagram and its relationship to the load chart, the work area chart and its relationship to the load chart, where to find and how to use the "parts-of-line" information the safe working load of hoist line.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of industry specific safety standards
- Knowledge of federal regulations and industry standards.
- Ability to complete training for Behavioral Safety Process
Preferably 3 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools.

Lifting/Pulling/Jerking/Grasping/Raising/Lowering:
Must be able to lift, grasp up to 50 lbs. with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold and/or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc.) Must be able to raise and lower objects from one level to another. x
Squatting/Twisting/Bend/Reaching/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling:
