Automotive Technician – Carlsbad, NM
Transdev in Carlsbad, NM is seeking an Automotive Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As an automotive technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

- Company paid ASE testing and training materials
- Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs
- Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components including engine, emission, driveline, electrical/electronic, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust, cab/chassis, hydraulics, and scan‑tool operations
- Assist Technician I and Technician II in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to an efficient workflow
- Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance
- Ensure work orders are properly completed and correct action plans are chosen for repairs
- Evaluate completed work prior to release to ensure quality standards are met
- Ensure safe use of power and hand‑held tools
- Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary
- Move vehicles safely between job sites and work areas
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors
- Participate in safety or educational training as required
- Maintain current ASE/EVT recertification to remain in job classification
- Apply initiative and adapt duties as the company’s needs evolve
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years direct automotive repair experience
- ASE certifications required; training program provided
- Mechanic’s tool set proficiency
- Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing (per 49 CFR Part 40)
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside, often in remote locations
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on varied terrain
- Push, pull, lift objects up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access equipment at ground level
- Withstand heavy traffic areas and tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
