Field Operator III – Automation Technician About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Field Operator / Automation Technician to support Oil & Gas operations in Southeast New Mexico. This is a hands‑on field role supporting the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation, instrumentation, electrical, and communication equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Oil & Gas production equipment and automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, transmitters, and communication systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Automation and I&E equipment in the field.
- Work with PLC components, wired and wireless transmitters, communication equipment, and HMIs.
- Use SCADA systems to monitor field operations and equipment.
- Troubleshoot PLCs, ABB Total Flow systems, Fisher ROC systems, transmitters, and electrical circuits.
- Support and troubleshoot communication systems, including Free Wave, Xeta Wave, Red Lion, ABB, Cambium, and fiber optic systems.
- Perform Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out (LOTO) procedures when required.
- Understand and support Oil & Gas production equipment and operations.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Work effectively as part of a team while also being able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform other operational duties as needed.
- Previous experience in Oil & Gas automation, instrumentation, electrical, or field operations.
- Hands‑on experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing PLCs and automation equipment.
- Experience with ABB Total Flow, Fisher ROC, transmitters, and electrical components.
- Experience with SCADA systems and field communication equipment.
- Understanding of electrical circuits and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas production equipment and operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
- Safety-focused and able to follow established procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
- Ability to obtain certification for working at heights and using fall protection.
- Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation after training, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Flexibility to work late when operational needs require it.
- Self‑starter with the ability to take direction and learn from experienced personnel.
