Scope

The I&E Technician installs and maintains instrumentation and electrical equipment in compliance with company requirements, applicable regulations, and established work practices. This position supports field electrical maintenance and electrical isolation through Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), including work involving lighting, air-conditioning systems, and motors. The I&E Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager and may serve as the Instrument and Electrical Lead when needed.

Tasks

and Responsibilities
  • Plan, update, and oversee activities within assigned areas of responsibility according to applicable laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures, with particular emphasis on health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, monitor, and inspect instrumentation, electrical, and control systems.
  • Support field electrical maintenance activities and electrical isolation using established LOTO procedures.
  • Support and encourage teamwork between operations, engineering, maintenance, and project groups.
  • Provide input on and review electrical and control specifications and work practices.
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for electrical and control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual.
  • Apply and follow work permits through the Permit to Work System (PTWS).
  • Ensure the quality and timely completion of work scheduled through the Maintenance Program.
  • Develop personal and team technical skills related to new regulations, equipment, methods, codes, procedures, and technology.
  • Attend and instruct technical meetings as needed to keep instrument and electrical technicians informed of current specifications, codes, procedures, and technology.
  • Maintain open communication with coworkers regarding control issues, safe work practices, training, materials, and other technical matters.
  • Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and complement the efforts of other work groups.
  • Provide technical support to other technicians performing maintenance and troubleshooting on company instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Generate Management of Change requests for electrical and control-related equipment and installations.
  • Follow up with installation inspections consistent with Operations Integrity Management System Element 3.
  • Construct, monitor, and inspect new installations for consistency with operational requirements and recommend upgrades when necessary.
  • Serve as a stand-in for the Instrument and Electrical Lead as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; related technical school coursework is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls within a processing plant or offshore production facility.
  • Familiarity with regulations applicable to oil and gas operations and facilities.
  • Knowledge of OIMS systems, related manuals, and operating procedures.
  • Ability to meet the safety, administrative, and technical training requirements documented in the company-approved Operations Training Roadmap.
  • General competencies and Operations Integrity Critical competencies required by the applicable Operations Training Roadmap.
  • Basic computing skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, PTWS, work management, and maintenance practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Good communication, organization, and reporting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-oriented approach.
