Monday Friday | 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

Position Type:
Full-Time | In-Office Only (No Remote / No Hybrid)

Salary Range: $65,000 $ 85,000 (based on experience)

Our client is a well-established heavy earthwork, excavation, and site development subcontractor based in Northern New Jersey, specializing in industrial, commercial, and residential site development projects throughout New Jersey. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accountant / Office Administrator to join their team in Carlstadt, NJ.

This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong construction accounting experience and advanced proficiency using Sage Intacct. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced construction office environment and handling both accounting and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily accounting and bookkeeping functions for the company
  • Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with monthly and year-end closing processes
  • Process subcontractor and vendor invoices, lien waivers, and payment tracking
  • Assist with job costing, project cost tracking, and construction financial reporting
  • Coordinate with project managers and ownership regarding project budgets and financials
  • Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation
  • Support office administration and day-to-day operational activities
  • Draft, manage, and respond to professional emails and written correspondence
  • Maintain organized filing systems and project documentation
  • Assist with payroll coordination and employee administrative support
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal staff
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of Sage Intacct experience REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction accounting experience
  • Notary Certification required
  • Prior experience working for a construction management firm, heavy civil contractor, excavation contractor, site development contractor, or related construction company strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Construction accounting
    • Job costing
    • Project billing
    • Vendor and subcontractor management
  • Excellent communication, writing, and email correspondence skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced office environment
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must be dependable and able to work onsite in Rutherford, NJ five days per week
  • No remote or hybrid work available
Preferred Industry Experience
  • Experience supporting construction projects involving:
    • Heavy earthwork
    • Site excavation
    • Underground utilities
    • Industrial developments
    • Commercial developments
    • Residential developments
    • Site development construction
