Staff Accountant (Direct Hire)

Location:
On-site | Fast-Paced Environment


Salary: $60,000 - $80,000

An established and growing organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with standard accounting practices.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting
  • Maintain accurate financial records and oversee general ledger activity
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Utilize Quick Books and other internal systems to manage financial data
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives
  • Prepare financial reports and communicate key findings to leadership
Accounts Receivable
  • Record and post payments (ACH, checks, credit cards) accurately and timely
  • Monitor aging reports and conduct weekly collections outreach
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies including missing or skipped invoices
  • Manage chargebacks and improve processes to reduce risk
Accounts Payable
  • Process invoices and convert receipts into bills in a timely manner
  • Reconcile vendor discrepancies (pricing, quantity, missing items)
  • Prepare weekly payment runs and ensure timely vendor payments
  • Audit freight and supplier invoices and provide recommendations
Reconciliations & Reporting
  • Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Complete month-end close activities including:
  • Bank reconciliations
  • A/R and A/P reporting
  • Expense and prepayment analysis
  • Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
  • Investigate variances and implement process improvements
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure adherence to accounting regulations and audit standards
  • Maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and tax documentation
  • Support quarterly and annual tax filings (sales, payroll, income tax)
  • Assist leadership with audit preparation and financial reviews
Additional Responsibilities
  • Process credit memos, refunds, and transaction adjustments
  • Assist with payroll processing as needed
  • Support operational tasks including order processing and supply purchasing
  • Participate in system and process improvements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on accounting experience (full-cycle preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and GL
  • Proficiency in Quick Books ; experience with Shopify or similar systems a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
