Licensed Customs Broker – Brokerage Operations Manager
Carlstadt, NJ Area | $90,000–$115,000 DOE + Benefits
A well-established international transportation and logistics company is hiring a Licensed Customs Broker to help manage and strengthen its U.S. Customs Brokerage operation in Northern New Jersey.
This position combines technical Customs expertise with day-to-day team leadership. The manager will coordinate brokerage workflow, review entries, support Entry Writers with complex shipments, address compliance issues, and remain hands-on when volume or operational challenges require additional support.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Customs Brokerage professional who wants greater leadership responsibility while remaining close to the technical and operational side of the business.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate daily Customs Brokerage assignments and entry-processing priorities.
- Review Customs entries, classifications, invoices, and supporting documents before filing.
- Assist Entry Writers with complicated entries, documentation issues, and regulatory questions.
- Monitor and resolve rejected entries, RFIs, Customs holds, and filing discrepancies.
- Support CBP and Partner Government Agency compliance requirements.
- Prepare or transmit entries when necessary to support the operation.
- Train and coach brokerage employees on procedures and regulatory standards.
- Improve SOPs, turnaround times, filing accuracy, and team productivity.
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.
- At least 5 years of U.S. Customs Brokerage experience.
- Current or recent hands-on Customs entry-processing experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, trade compliance, and Customs documentation.
- Experience reviewing entries before transmission.
- Previous experience guiding, mentoring, or supervising Entry Writers.
- Strong judgment when addressing complex entry and compliance issues.
- Ability to work onsite in the Northern New Jersey area.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Established international logistics and Customs Brokerage organization.
- Visible operational leadership role.
- Ability to influence team structure, training, procedures, and workflow.
- Combination of management responsibility and technical Customs involvement.
- Competitive base compensation reaching approximately $115,000 for a strong match.
