Role Description The Colex CNC Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Carlstadt, NJ. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring Colex CNC cutting machines to produce high-quality signage, displays, and large format printed materials according to production specifications. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting work orders and technical drawings, loading and securing materials, selecting appropriate cutting tools, and optimizing machine settings for accuracy and efficiency.
The operator will inspect finished pieces, perform routine maintenance and minor adjustments on machinery, and collaborate closely with the fabrication, printing, and project management teams to meet deadlines and quality standards. Adherence to safety protocols, careful documentation of production runs, and continuous attention to detail are essential parts of the day-to-day responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Strong Machine Operation skills, including setup, monitoring, and adjustment of CNC or similar machinery.
- Experience in Quality Control, with the ability to measure, inspect, and verify finished parts against specifications.
- Background in Machining and Milling, or related fabrication work, using tools and equipment common to a production environment.
- Familiarity with industrial Machinery, including basic troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and safe operating practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
- Comfort using measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges) and basic computer interfaces or CNC software.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Previous experience in sign fabrication, large format printing, or related manufacturing environment is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical or vocational training is a plus.
