Quality Control Technician
This role focuses on evaluating color quality for textiles in a laboratory environment. The Quality Control Technician assesses production samples, establishes color tolerances, and makes approval or rejection decisions based on predefined color standards for pre-approved products. The technician works closely with the quality control lab team and uses both visual assessment and benchtop spectrophotometer measurements to ensure that all products meet strict color quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and gather production samples for color evaluation in a timely and organized manner.
- Perform visual assessments of textile samples to determine whether they meet pre-approved color standards and tolerances.
- Establish and apply appropriate color tolerances when evaluating production lots.
- Make clear pass or fail decisions on production lots based on color quality and adherence to standards.
- Articulate and communicate color decisions, including the reasons for approvals or rejections, to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of all evaluations and decisions, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality procedures.
- Input comments, results, and evaluation details into Excel spreadsheets and other data entry systems.
- Work alongside the quality control laboratory team using a benchtop spectrophotometer to confirm that quality control requirements are achieved.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other lab technicians and quality control inspectors to support consistent color quality.
- Support continuous improvement of color evaluation processes by providing feedback and observations from daily lab work.
Essential
Skills:
- Strong color acuity and the ability to distinguish subtle differences in color.
- Ability to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test with a superior rating (score less than 16).
- Comfort working in a laboratory environment with textiles and color evaluation equipment.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including entering and updating data accurately.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills for documenting and explaining color decisions.
- Experience or familiarity with quality control and inspection processes.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when performing visual assessments and recording results.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a quality control laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with benchtop spectrophotometers or other color measurement instruments.
- Experience or coursework in chemistry, textiles, or related laboratory sciences.
- Experience with Excel data entry, including maintaining organized and accurate records.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with lab technicians and inspectors.
- Interest in color science, textiles, or niche industries related to color and materials.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a laboratory environment focused on color evaluation for textiles. The role operates on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The technician works closely with other lab technicians and quality control inspectors, using tools such as a benchtop spectrophotometer and Excel-based data entry systems. The work environment is described as very friendly and kind, with a strong sense of community and collaboration.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
