The Retail Store Manager oversees the daily operations of the on-site retail store. This position is responsible for supervising staff, ensuring food safety and quality standards, managing inventory, and delivering excellent customer service. The Retail Store Manager ensures compliance with USDA, OSHA, and company policies while achieving sales and operational goals.
Store Operations & Sales- Oversee daily retail store operations, including opening, closing, cash handling, and customer service.
- Drive sales through merchandising, promotions, and customer engagement.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance, preparing reports and recommending improvements.
- Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, HACCP, and company food safety standards.
- Train staff on proper handling, labeling, and storage of meat products.
- Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, and safe working conditions within the store.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering, and stock rotation to minimize shrinkage and waste.
- Ensure proper product labeling, pricing, and presentation.
- Coordinate with the processing facility to forecast product demand.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop store employees.
- Schedule staff effectively to balance labor costs with customer service needs.
- Coach and evaluate performance, addressing concerns promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve escalated concerns.
- Educate customers on product offerings, cuts of meat, and safe handling practices.
- Build relationships with local customers, businesses, and community partners.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3–5 years of management experience in retail, grocery, or meat/food industry required.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (USDA, HACCP, OSHA) strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, sales goals, and inventory effectively.
- Proficiency with POS systems, Microsoft Office, and inventory software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in cold environments (coolers/freezers) as needed.
