University High School of Indiana seeks a highly organized Business Manager to oversee the day-to‑day financial and business operations of the school. University is a vibrant and dynamic community of 340 students and 60 faculty and staff who work together daily in service of the school’s mission “to expand the hearts and minds of students and to nurture excellence through academic, creative, and physical achievement.”
This position plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the school by ensuring strong financial stewardship, efficient operational systems, and responsive service to families, employees, and vendors. The ideal candidate combines technical financial expertise with professionalism, discretion, strong communication and problem‑solving skills, and a customer‑service mindset. The Business Manager is a full member of the school community, serves on various committees, serves as a mentor in the school’s 1:1 mentoring program, and engages in various parts of the school community beyond the business department.
Teaching business‑related classes may be an opportunity for this position in the future. This is a full‑time, benefit‑eligible position.
- Business Operations
- Manage daily accounts receivable and accounts payable operations for the school
- Review expense reimbursement for accuracy, confirming required documentation, and ensuring timely payment.
- Prepare bank deposits and perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Process and reconcile tuition billing and tuition payment systems
- Monitor student accounts and communicate professionally with families regarding payment schedules and balances
- Process payroll and serve as primary point of contact with University’s PEO
- Assist with onboarding paperwork and employee records management
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Manage vendor relationships and service contracts
- Support purchasing and operational logistics across departments
- Coordinate with the school’s fractional controller and CFO on reconciliations and reports
- Help ensure compliance with school policies and financial procedures
- Support annual audit preparation and collaborate with external auditors as needed
- Office & Community Support
- Serve as a professional and welcoming point of contact for parents, employees, and vendors
- Collaborate closely with the Associate Head of School and administrative leadership team
- Assist with operational projects and special initiatives as assigned
- Serve as a mentor within the school wide mentoring program
- Contribute to a positive, mission‑driven school culture
- Potential for teaching business classes or advising activities like DECA may become available
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration required
- Previous bookkeeping, accounting, or business office experience preferred
- Experience in a non‑profit organization preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial systems
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Facility with accounting software (Blackbaud preferred), Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and other technology

- Background check and current authorization to be employed in the U.S. required
