2027 Summer Intern - Service Line Strategy

As our Service Line Strategy Intern, you’ll contribute to MISO’s Operations and Planning strategy by researching emerging industry trends and translating them into strategic insights and recommendations to help leaders prepare MISO for the future of the electric grid.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience with:

  • Researching emerging industry trends and assessing what they could mean for MISO’s future capabilities
  • Helping translate insights into multi‑year priorities and leadership‑ready recommendations
  • Developing or improving strategic roadmaps, dashboards, and planning views using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and MISO’s strategic planning tools

A Great Day in This Role Means:

A great day in this role means exploring an emerging industry trend, connecting it to MISO’s Operations and Planning strategy, and working with team members and business leaders to understand what it could mean for the future.

You’ll know you’re making an impact when your research or analysis helps clarify a strategic question, identifies a new consideration, or turns complex information into an insight that leaders can use to make better decisions.

This is a Unique Opportunity Because:

What makes this team unique is the combination of high‑impact work, broad exposure, and a collaborative team environment. You’ll get to work across Market Operations, System Operations, Transmission Planning, and Resource Planning, while learning directly from experienced leaders and seeing how strategic decisions are made across MISO. The team is curious, driven, supportive, and willing to challenge ideas — creating a great environment to ask questions, build industry knowledge quickly, and contribute meaningful work rather than just observe.

What You’ll Be Proud to Share:

  • Researched a major industry trend and assessed what it could mean for MISO’s Operations and Planning strategy.
  • Developed recommendations or a leadership‑ready view that helped inform future priorities.
  • Delivered something tangible that shows you helped MISO think differently about the future.
