This position is responsible for preparing and coordinating all work associated with creating new multifamily & hospitality construction estimates at all levels, including soliciting subcontractor bids, evaluating scopes of work, and reviewing project plans and specifications. Responsible for creating project narratives, plan take offs, and working with a team to create consistent, repeatable results.
Qualifications- 3+ years of preconstruction estimating experience on multifamily or hospitality construction projects - or 3 to 5 years of progressive equivalent work experience in a related field
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred (or equivalent work experience)
- Must be a self-starter who is extremely organized and detail oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to manage multiple projects, while maintaining project budgets, prioritizing effectively, and recognizing/addressing work related issues as they occur
- Strong teamwork capabilities
- Able to read and comprehend blueprints and shop drawings
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to use estimating software, Word, Excel, Outlook, Plan Swift, Building Connected, bid management, online plan rooms, and database applications
- Review project plans, specifications, estimating scopes and pricing
- Prepares and reviews budget and general conditions estimates for entire project prior to bid date
- Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented
- Prepares and reviews all bid and/or estimate forms for submissions
- Assists in developing subcontractor solicitation strategies, analyzing subcontractor bids, and documenting subcontractor prequalification prior to bid date
- Assists in coordinating insurance requirements as needed
- Compiles pre-bid questions for submission to owner
- Organizes coordination meetings, and attends pre-bid meetings
- Prepares and presents budget presentations to owners and architects
- Maintains historical database with accurate data
- Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups while reflecting the company core values and meeting /exceeding expectations
