Market Evaluation Engineer

Overview

Insight Global is looking for a Sr Market Evaluation Engineer to join one of our largest clients in Carmel, IN. As a Senior Engineer on the Market Evaluation Team your work will directly contribute to ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the power grid that serves 45 million people. By analyzing and enhancing market and system operations you’ll help manage congestion through its market systems and ensure sufficient resources are online and available to meet system demands and support grid reliability.

In this role you will evaluate and report on the health of markets, focusing on their reliability, efficiency and ability to incentivize desired behaviors from market participants. You will have the opportunity to recommend and evaluate new wholesale electricity market design initiatives that positively impact market outcomes for our stakeholders and end use customers. As a Senior Engineer you will be expected to provide technical leadership to guide other members of the team and you will be responsible to deliver progress on key projects that expand the team’s analytical capabilities.

This role will primarily be supporting 3 main areas including Event Analysis, Validation of Market Products, and reporting.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or related field
• Experience at an RTO, ISO, or Utility working with RTO or ISO directly
• Experience in some if not all of the following:
• energy market forecasting and analysis
• power system analysis and operation and associated software development
• statistical and econometrics analysis
• optimization algorithms
• Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages (Power BI, Python, Azure preferred)

• Experience with Power Engineering Tools (PSSe, Power Gem, Plexos, Power World, etc.)
• RTO or ISO experience

$120k to $130k per year annual salary.
